Vintage verse – A flea and a fly in a flue by Ogden Nash

A flea and a fly in a flue

A flea and a fly in a flue,
Were imprisoned; now what could they do?
Said the fly, “let us flee.”
“Let us fly,” said the flea,
And they flew through a flaw in the flue.

by Ogden Nash (1902-1971)

Been reciting that for years, but I’d completely forgotten the author. Ogden Nash, who else?

But I’d been saying the third and fourth lines as Said the flea, Let us fly; Said the fly, let us flee. I think I like my version better. Sorry, Ogden!
